Program Associate – Wildlife

WWF Nepal is hiring a Program Associate – Wildlife to conduct species research, manage conservation projects, and support biodiversity protection in the Terai Arc Landscape.

WWF Nepal seeks a Program Associate – Wildlife to work under the Wildlife Biologist in both research and conservation program delivery. The role includes designing and implementing ecological studies, monitoring flagship species, managing data, and coordinating with local communities and partners. The associate will also support human-wildlife conflict mitigation, community-based conservation, and habitat management efforts in the Terai Arc Landscape and Conservation Program (TALCP).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct wildlife research and monitoring for key species and habitats in TALCP
• Provide evidence-based recommendations for conservation actions
• Identify field research needs and develop proposals
• Collect, manage, and analyze field data using standard protocols and statistical tools
• Prepare technical reports, donor reports, and research publications
• Implement conservation activities in coordination with partners and communities
• Mobilize and supervise wildlife technicians, students, and citizen scientists
• Plan, track, and monitor project activities to ensure timely delivery
• Maintain and update research and program databases
• Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and partner organizations
• Share research findings and promote program visibility
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Eligibility to apply

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Conservation Biology, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or related Natural Sciences

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years in biodiversity conservation
• Proven skills in species research and conservation program implementation

Skills Required:

• Strong commitment to field-based research and conservation work
• Ability to design research, analyze data, and communicate results
• Proficiency in R and related packages for species monitoring
• Strong written and spoken communication in English and Nepali
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness to travel frequently for fieldwork

Preferred Knowledge:

• Occupancy and SECR models for species monitoring
• Human-wildlife conflict mitigation and community conservation strategies
