Private Sector and Market Assessment Expert (National Consultant)
UNFPA seeks a consultant to conduct a market assessment in Koshi Province, Nepal, to identify economic opportunities for GBV survivors and marginalized women through private sector engagement.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Nepal is hiring a Private Sector and Market Assessment Expert for a one-month consultancy in Nepal. The consultant will assess employment and income-generating opportunities in Biratnagar Metropolitan City (Morang), Triyuga, and Katari Municipality (Udaypur). The role focuses on supporting Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors and vulnerable women by linking them to market-responsive training, self-employment, and decent jobs.
Key Responsibilities
• Review existing reports, policies, and labor market trends in Koshi Province.
• Develop data collection tools for consultations and focus groups.
• Conduct consultations with businesses, cooperatives, and government agencies.
• Identify labor demands, skill gaps, and potential inclusive employment models.
• Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on high-growth sectors.
• Provide intersectional recommendations for GBV survivors and marginalized women.
• Identify enablers and barriers to their participation in the workforce.
• Assess the feasibility of public-private partnerships for inclusive employment.
• Explore synergies with national job-matching platforms like “Shramsansar.”
• Write a comprehensive market assessment report with recommendations.
• Present findings to government, private sector, and civil society partners.
• Advocate for policy integration and municipal resource allocation.
Eligibility to apply
Education:
• Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, or a related field.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years in market assessments, labor market or value chain analysis.
• Experience designing and implementing economic empowerment programs.
• Proven record of engaging with government, private sector, and CSOs.
• Research and data analysis expertise, including qualitative and quantitative methods.
Skills Required:
• Strong analytical, research, and report-writing skills
• Communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Independent and team-based work abilities
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
Preferred Knowledge:
• Gender equality and social inclusion principles
• Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Koshi Province
• Fluency in English and Nepali; knowledge of local dialects desirable
