Inclusive Plan for People with Disabilities in Conservation

WWF Nepal seeks a consultancy team to assess and create a plan that promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities in its conservation efforts, ensuring equitable participation and benefit-sharing.

WWF Nepal is hiring a consultancy team to assess the involvement of people with disabilities (PWD) in its conservation projects and develop a plan that ensures their full inclusion. The initiative will support the next phase of the “Resilience for People and Biodiversity” project, which is scheduled to conclude in December 2025 and is expected to be relaunched in a new location by January 2026.

WWF Nepal began operations in 1993 and is active in five areas: Wildlife, Freshwater, Forests, Climate and Energy, and Governance. It emphasizes inclusive conservation through a human rights-based approach, particularly for Indigenous Peoples, women, caste and ethnic minorities, and PWDs.

Contract Period

The consultancy assignment must be completed by October 30, 2025.

Scope of Work

The assignment involves assessing current PWD engagement in the “Resilience for People and Biodiversity” project and preparing a practical inclusion plan for future projects.

Specific Deliverables/Requirements

• Review the effectiveness of current project support for PWD
• Document two success stories of PWD empowerment
• Identify barriers to PWD participation in conservation
• Recommend strategies for sustainable support to PWD
• Develop an actionable plan for inclusive participation in future projects
• Tailor activities to PWD needs and challenges
• Recommend practical steps for inclusive project design

Key Responsibilities

The selected consultant will evaluate current practices and develop an inclusive conservation strategy.
• Conduct field assessments and stakeholder interviews
• Organize focus group discussions
• Analyze gaps and opportunities
• Prepare reports and an action plan

Qualifications and Experience

Consultants must have a strong background in disability inclusion, community engagement, and conservation project evaluation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master's degree in development, social work, gender studies, or a related field
• Proven expertise in disability inclusion and social development
• Experience working with PWD communities
• Familiarity with WWF Nepal’s project goals is an advantage

Team Expertise

The team should be multidisciplinary with proven experience.
• Team Leader: 10+ years in disability inclusion and social development
• Other roles: Experts in policy advocacy, governance, and community-based conservation
